Join us for this special edition of culture club as the Mental Health Working Group (MHWG) of the Max Planck PostdocNet, in collaboration with Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), warmly invites you to an interactive online seminar designed to help international researchers and staff members better understand and navigate the German healthcare system.
Date: Tuesday, 9 June 2026 Time: 10:00 a.m. Location: Online via Zoom (community members should email imprs@is.mpg.de to request the link)
This one-hour interactive session will feature a presentation by Ms Justine Peutrich (Customer Consultant, TK) entitled:
“Navigating the German Healthcare System: A Practical Guide for International Researchers and Staff Members”
The seminar will provide a compact and practical overview of how healthcare in Germany works, including how to find doctors, make appointments, understand referrals, and access medical and mental health services. Participants will also learn how health insurance — particularly TK — supports access to healthcare services in Germany.
In addition, the session will address what to do when experiencing mental health difficulties and explain how psychotherapy works in Germany. The electronic patient record (ePA), including its main functions as well as options regarding data use and privacy, will also be introduced.
Whether you are new to Germany or would simply like to better understand the healthcare system, this session promises valuable practical guidance and resources. There will also be plenty of time to ask individual questions during the seminar.
Anonymous participation is welcome.
