This training is designed to equip our scholars with essential skills to navigate the academic job application process effectively, including crafting CVs, research statements, and strategic applications.

This workshop will provide participants with an overview of typical academic application processes, including what hiring committees look for in CVs, cover letters, and research or teaching statements. Participants will receive practical guidance on structuring their application materials and tips for presenting their research, experience, and achievements effectively.
Dr. Hartmann will also share strategies for tailoring applications to specific academic positions and institutions, helping participants position themselves competitively for postdoctoral or faculty roles.
More about our Trainer: Dr. Florian Hartmann is an IMPRS-IS faculty member and Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, leading the Biomimetic Materials and Machines Group. His research focuses on soft robotics, functional materials, additive manufacturing, and sustainable technology. Dr. Hartmann earned his PhD in Technical Sciences in 2021 from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. He then conducted postdoctoral research at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, developing small-scale swimming robots and soft actuation technologies for environmental monitoring.
