Vindhya's research focuses on how large language models shape inclusive leadership in the workplace, earning her a first-author paper to be presented at EMNLP 2025. She also contributes to IMPRS-IS as an organizer of the Think & Link event series, helping foster interdisciplinary exchange and connection among fellow researchers.
We are thrilled to feature Vindhya Singh as our next IMPRS-IS Scholar Spotlight! Vindhya joined the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS) in September 2023 as a doctoral researcher, co-supervised by Ksenia Keplinger (MPI-IS) and Michael Sedlmair (University of Stuttgart). Her research lies at the intersection of natural language processing (NLP), leadership, and organizational behavior, exploring how emerging technologies such as large language models (LLMs) shape inclusive leadership and workplace decision-making.
Bridging social science and NLP, Vindhya’s interdisciplinary work reflects her commitment to understanding how technology can foster equitable and human-centered workplaces across individual, team, and organizational levels. Her recent research has led to several high-profile publications, including Inclusive Leadership in the Age of AI: A Dataset and Comparative Study of LLMs vs. Real-Life Leaders in Workplace Action Planning (to be presented at EMNLP 2025). She also contributed to Gig Work in Organizations: Demystifying the Perspectives of Human Resource Management Professionals (Springer Cham), AI for Good: Advancing Diversity and Inclusion Through Technology (showcase symposium at AOM 2025), and Beyond and Behind Platforms and Algorithms: Exploring the Lived Experiences of Gig Workers, presented at AOM 2024.
Before joining IMPRS-IS, Vindhya earned her M.Sc. in Informatics from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where she specialized in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. She began her professional career as a Data Engineer at Amazon Munich before transitioning into a Data Scientist role at IABG mbH, where she collaborated with the University of the Bundeswehr Munich on several interdisciplinary projects that merged computational methods with social science insights.
Among these initiatives, she contributed to SPARTA, a real-time social media monitoring system that studies political competition and social conflicts on platforms such as X/Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube. The project develops no-code tools that empower users to analyze digital discourse and detect hostile or emotional online narratives. She also played a key role in Media for Peace, a multilingual fake news detection and analysis system, working on text preprocessing and language modeling in Arabic, Dari, English, and Pashto, as well as deep-learning-based impact analysis of misinformation.
Vindhya additionally contributed to the HYBRIDS project (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions), advancing hybrid intelligence systems that integrate human and machine understanding to counter online hate speech and disinformation. Her earlier work was presented at the Living Planet Symposium in Bonn (2022), underscoring her engagement with interdisciplinary research at the interface of AI, communication, and society.
During her time with IMPRS-IS, Vindhya has also served as an organizer of the IMPRS-IS Think & Link event series, helping to create opportunities for connection, interdisciplinary exchange, and social belonging among fellow doctoral researchers.
Outside academia, Vindhya enjoys building Lego sets, cooking, traveling, and watching anime—activities that, she says, help her unwind and inspire creative thinking.
We are proud to spotlight Vindhya’s contributions and look forward to seeing how her work continues to shape conversations at the intersection of AI, organizations, and society.
