The Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems offers funding to collaborative projects through its Grassroots initiative annually. The program provides an opportunity to obtain one year of funding for synergistic projects in intelligent systems.
Since a large aim of the project is to promote collaboration, proposals must involve people who are affiliated with at least two different organizational units (i.e., departments, research groups, central scientific facilities, or other entities) within MPI-IS. Many IMPRS-IS faculty, associated faculty, associated scientists, scholars, and associated students are contributors of the following 2024 approved projects.

Awarded projects receive funding for the 2024 calendar year, and project leaders will present their project findings at an MPI-IS institute retreat.
