The 2026 IMPRS-IS Boot Camp will take place at the AllgaüStern Hotel from Wednesday, September 23, to Friday, September 25. Attending scholars, faculty, and other community members have already registered for the event.
Participants can always find the most up-to-date event schedule here. Some highlights of the event will be a keynote by our faculty Andreas Geiger (University of Tübingen), a special talk about power abuse in academia by Andrea Kübler (University of Würzburg), over 80 poster presentations by our scholars, and a panel discussion about research commercialization and many interactive learning tutorials. Information for Participants Before Departure
Health / Attendance: Protecting the health and well-being of our attendees is of the utmost importance to us as we prepare for this event. If you are too sick to attend, we completely understand and ask that you please stay home. If you become ill and are unable to attend the Boot Camp, please contact the coordination office (imprs@is.mpg.de) as soon as possible. In the event of an absence due to illness, we may ask you to provide a physician's certificate (Krankenschein).
Transportation: Shuttle buses will depart from both MPI-IS Tübingen and MPI-IS Stuttgart to transport participants to the venue. Buses will depart between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. CEST on Wednesday, September 23. Please plan to arrive early enough to board on time. The buses will not wait for participants arriving after 8:00 a.m.
Accommodation: We have reserved a room for you for the entire duration of the event. All scholars and associated students will share rooms. Most rooms accommodate two individuals, while some rooms accommodate up to four. Participants will have access to their rooms beginning at 15:00 on Wednesday, September 23.
Arrival: Upon arrival at the venue, you will receive further information about checking in, collecting room keys, and storing your belongings prior to room access. You may ask the hotel reception about receiving your room key upon arrival. However, the hotel cannot guarantee that all keys will be available before 11:00 a.m. Please note that even if your room key is available earlier, room access/check-in will not begin until 17:00.
Registration: When you arrive at the venue, please visit the IMPRS-IS reception desk to check in and pick up your name tag. We ask that you wear your name tag for all activities of the Boot Camp.
Clothing/Weather: Please check the weather forecast shortly before departure and pack accordingly. We recommend bringing layers and rain-appropriate clothing, as weather conditions in late September can be variable. There are currently no planned hikes, and there will be no mandatory time outdoors, aside from the possibility of a brief outdoor group photo.
Participant Contributions: We have received a number of questions regarding poster presenters and helpers. Anyone selected to present a poster or serve as a helper has already been contacted directly. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to contribute to the Boot Camp!
Image Policy: IMPRS-IS will take photographs during the Boot Camp. If you do not wish to be photographed, please pick up a red sticker at the reception desk and place it on your name tag for the duration of the event. Please also inform the reception team so that we can document your preference. IMPRS-IS and MPI-IS reserve the right to reuse photographs taken during the event for promotional purposes, including on our websites, in printed materials, and on other platforms used to highlight the program.
Alcoholic Beverages: Bringing alcohol to the boot camp venue is strictly prohibited. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the venue's bar. Drinks cannot be charged to your room, so please be prepared to pay with cash or card.
Checkout: Check out of your room on Friday morning, no later than 9:15 a.m. Everyone needs to be checked out of their rooms, have their luggage stored, and be in the lecture hall for our program start at 9:30 a.m. There could be some wait time at the reception desk if traffic is heavy, and it might take a few minutes to store luggage, so please plan accordingly.
