Join this onsite workshop to explore practical strategies to manage stress, build resilience, and protect your mental wellbeing throughout your journey as a doctoral researcher.
Date: Friday, May 22 Time: 10:00 – 15:00 CEST Location: MPI-IS Tübingen Trainer: Dr. Tijana Perovic
Doing a Ph.D. can be deeply rewarding, but it also comes with unique pressures that can affect mental health and overall wellbeing. This interactive workshop will provide doctoral researchers with a supportive space to explore common mental health challenges experienced during the PhD journey — including stress, isolation, imposter phenomenon, and burnout.
Participants will be guided through structured reflection exercises to identify their own stressors and patterns, and will learn practical, evidence-based strategies to build healthier work-life boundaries, strengthen resilience, and foster a sense of balance and purpose in their work.
The workshop will also emphasize the importance of community and open conversation in academia. Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn how to create supportive networks that promote wellbeing for themselves and their peers.
The session will be led by Dr. Tijana Perovic, an experienced trainer in academic mental health and wellbeing.
About Healthy Minds in Academia
Now in its 3rd year, Healthy Minds in Academia is an initiative committed to destigmatizing mental health challenges in the academic world. We aim to foster open conversation, promote mental health literacy, and support the well-being of researchers and staff at every stage of their careers.
Healthy Minds in Academia brings together our research community to talk openly about the challenges we face — from imposter phenomenon to burnout — and the tools we can use to support ourselves and each other.
Who can join? This onsite workshop is open to all members of the Cyber Valley ecosystem; however, places are limited. The primary target audience for this session is doctoral researchers. Other workshops in the series are designed more broadly for the wider community, including faculty, postdocs, scientific staff, and administrative personnel. Registration information and participation details will be shared via the community mailing lists.
Join the full 2026 Healthy Minds in Academia series! All sessions are free, online or onsite, and open to everyone in our scientific community.
