Orientation Day for New Scholars

IMPRS-IS Orientation Day - 2025

Orientation Days are designed to help new scholars successfully integrate into the IMPRS-IS community—come meet your 9th-generation cohort in person! 

Beyond just learning about program requirements, this event is all about connecting with fellow scholars, making new friends, and finding potential collaborators. It’s a great way to come together, get to know each other, and start building your academic and social network.

And of course, we’ll end the day with time to socialize over free food and drinks!

At Orientation Day, you will:
Meet fellow scholars, as well as HR representatives and international officers
Learn about IMPRS-IS program requirements, including:

• What is a TAC? Plus, when and how should you form one.
• Registering at uni — how and when?

​​​​Get insights into IMPRS-IS resources, such as:

• German courses
• Canteens, libraries, and other amenities
• IMPRS-IS events, boot camps, and activities

 Receive other key information from MPI-IS human resources and international offices on:

• Residency requirements in Germany
• Health insurance, work visas, and work contracts
• Importance of intercultural communication and ethical practices in science

Whether you're looking to meet new people, get settled into the program, or just enjoy some good company, Orientation Day is your chance to connect, learn, and have fun!

Please note* Our doctoral researchers are the target audience for this event, but faculty or associated scientists are also very welcome to join. New faculty often join to learn more about the program.
